Grimes predicts 31% turnout on Election Day

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Kentucky’s Secretary of State expects an average turnout for next week’s election.

Alison Lundergan Grimes is predicting approximately 31% of the state’s registered voters will vote next Tuesday. There are nearly 3.5 million registered voters in Kentucky.

Based on current absentee voting, Grimes believes turnout will be at or above the 2015 general election. Grimes said, “It is not okay that only a small portion of Kentuckians will possibly elect our next constitutional officers.”

As of Monday, more than 19,000 voters had voted in person on machines in county clerks’ offices or were sent absentee ballots.
