Metcalfe County Schools students win poster and essay contests

METCALFE COUNTY, Ky. – Metcalfe County Schools is celebrating two winners in the 2024 Kentucky Department of Agriculture Poster and Essay contests.

According to the district, Jameah Kirby is the statewide fifth grade winner of the essay contest, while Emily Shaw is the statewide 12th grade winner of the poster contest.

The theme of this year’s contest was “Agriculture for a Better Kentucky.”

Kirby and Shaw will each receive a $100 check from Kentucky Agriculture and Environment in the Classroom.

Both are invited to a statewide awards ceremony at UK’s Kroger Field and a UK baseball game at Kentucky Proud Park.
