Local restaurants seeking nominations for historic grant program

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Three historic restaurant spaces in downtown Bowling Green are asking for the community’s support.

440 Main / Micki’s on Main, Meltdown Ice Cream & Soda Fountain and The Mustang Club are seeking nominations in hopes of receiving a National Trust for Historic Preservation grant.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Backing Historic Small Restaurants Grant Program is searching for beloved local eateries that help tell an inspiring story about cuisine and community. The program is in its fourth year.

The program will award $2.5 million in grants to 50 historic and culturally significant restaurants across the United States. The grants provide funds to upgrade and preserve exterior physical spaces and online businesses.

The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, March 27.
