Hundreds race in fundraiser Run & Walk for Children

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Four hundred and fifty participants helped the Family Enrichment Center raise money for child care on Friday and Saturday.

The 28th Annual Run and Walk for Children collected about $50,000 and is one of the agency’s largest fundraising events of the year.

Runners braved the chilly weather Saturday morning at Ephram White Park for the 5K run, the 5K Walk and the half marathon.

“It supports our Wee Care Childcare Center,” says Katie Dykes, director of development at the Family Enrichment Center. “That is one of the only childcare centers in the region that do free respite and drop-9in care for families in crisis, so it’s a great way to get outside, be active and support a great cause.”

Activities on Friday included the kids one mile Glow Run and the Family Wellness Expo.

All of these events give the Family Enrichment Center a running start on Child Abuse Prevention Month, which is April.

You can expect that month to be filled with awareness events hosted by the center.
