BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Bowling Green Independent superintendent Gary Fields announced Friday Sheryl Anderson will be the next principal of T. C. Cherry Elementary.

Anderson was introduced to faculty and students on Friday morning.

According to a release by Bowling Green Independent Schools, Anderson brings a wealth of experience and passion for education to BGISD. She previously worked in Barren County Schools as an instructional assistant, teacher, and interventionist before moving to Bowling Green. Since 2020 she has served as a virtual teacher for kindergarten and first grade students, and most recently, as assistant principal of Jody Richards Elementary.

Anderson says, “One of the most rewarding aspects of being an elementary school principal is witnessing the growth and development of both students and staff members. Seeing students flourish academically, socially, and emotionally is incredibly rewarding. Moreover, being able to support and guide teachers and staff as they excel in their roles while fostering a positive learning environment adds a profound layer of joy and excitement.”

Fields stated Anderson demonstrated that she would be a great leader for T.C. Cherry during the application and interview process. He said she is “committed to building relationships and creating a positive learning environment for all students, staff, and families.”

Anderson says, “I am excited for the opportunity to lead T. C. Cherry Elementary as Principal. I look forward to working alongside a talented team of educators, and building upon the school’s achievements. Together we will create the best possible educational experience for our students.”

She will officially begin on July 1, 2024.
