WCPS students participate in Read Across America Day
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- March is National Reading Month, and on Monday, students across America picked up their books for Read Across America Day.
Warren County Public Schools is celebrating Read Across America Day by having volunteers from Fruit of the Loom, Trace Die Cast and Atmos Energy visit classrooms at the Early Learning Academy and read books to the students.
School officials tell us that highlighting the importance of reading at a young age is essential to achievements further down the road.
Assistant preschool director for WCPS, Christina Sanders, says “Reading is one of the biggest indicators of future success for a child as they go through school, so it’s very important that we get started early with that love of reading and exposure to lots of books, not only at school but also at home with their families as well.
The Early Learning Academy will have reading activities all week, and different themed days for all students to participate in.
