Multi-phase weather system may lead to hazardous driving conditions overnight

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is warning drivers and residents that a multi-phase weather system is expected to move into the District 3 area overnight Thursday.
Transportation officials said this could present hazardous driving conditions from strong winds and heavy rain.
The National Weather Service Louisville has issued a Wind Advisory predicting winds over 50 mph that will begin overnight. When combined with slick roads, this could cause issues for drivers, along with impacted traffic signals.
If a traffic signal is unavailable due to winds, use caution and treat the intersection as a four-way stop.
Drivers should also be aware of possible debris in the road, such as trees or powerlines.
Beginning Sunday night into Monday, transportation officials say the winter weather system may bring slick travel conditions and snow, with the possibility of single-digit temperatures Sunday night.
Motorists are encouraged to use slower speeds, leave plenty of space between vehicles, be cautious when braking and to monitor weather forecasts.
Crews are expected to start anti-icing operations for roads Saturday and are prepared to respond for winter weather Sunday and Monday.
