Fugitive accused of assaulting 2 Metcalfe County law enforcement officers

EDMONTON, Ky.- A fugitive from Metcalfe County is behind bars after authorities said he assaulted two law enforcement officers.
According to the Metcalfe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies initiated a traffic stop on North Main Street in Edmonton on Wednesday. During the traffic stop, Derek Pulliam, the passenger, was identified as a fugitive from justice.
Deputies said Pulliam refused to exit the vehicle. As a deputy was attempting to remove him from the vehicle, authorities said Pulliam fled on foot.
After a brief chase, authorities caught Pulliam, who then became combative and attempted to fight the investigators, according to the sheriff’s office.
During that time, authorities said Pulliam assaulted both investigators and one of them was forced to use pepper spray to subdue Pulliam.
Pulliam was placed under arrest and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, two counts of third-degree assault on a police officer, first-degree wanton endangerment and resisting arrest.
Pulliam was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center. He is being held on a $13,900 bond.
