Historic aircraft that crashed in Connecticut, visited Bowling Green in 2014
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- A vintage World War II aircraft crashed Wednesday morning at Bradley International Airport in Connecticut, killing several people on board. According to a report published on the website Bangshift.com, the same aircraft visited Bowling Green-Warren County Regional Airport in August 2014.
According to the article, the B-17 “Nine-O-Nine” owned by the Collings Foundation was in Bowling Green, along with the B-24H Liberator “Withcraft” and a P-51C Mustang “Betty Jane.”
The “Nine-O-Nine” had 13 people on board when it crashed at the end of the runway, while attempting to land.
Authorities said the plane hit a maintenance facility used for de-icing.
One person on the ground was also hurt.
It’s unclear how many people were killed, but authorities did confirm there were fatalities.
