MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WLEX) – A Madison County mother is furious, because one of the three people police say was involved in the overdose death of her 4-year-old daughter is now back on the streets.

Brighton Honour died in February of fentanyl poison.

WLEX reports the child’s mother spoke about the suspect’s release as she continues her fight for justice for her little girl.

“My daughter, Brighton, she was just a light to so many people,” Cheyene Helm says.

Helm says fentanyl and recklessness stole that away from her on Feb. 26. Brighton Honour was at a family member’s house in Lexington when she got fentanyl in her system.

On Monday and Tuesday, three people police think were involved, Anderson George, Raven Houstin and Briana Turpin, were arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter.

They are accused of acting together, trafficking heroin, wanton endangerment and tampering with physical evidence.

Turpin is already out on a $7,500 bond.

While Helm is very angry, she is speaking out with a much softer message about the dangers of fentanyl and sharing a message of hope that clearly shines brighter than any darkness that comes her way.

Her message? “We’re in a whole epidemic here, and it’s not being talked about enough.”

“I tell everyone it’s God’s strength covering me, his peace covering me, his comfort covering me and I pray for that every single day,” Helm says.
