LEXINGTON, Ky. (WLEX) – A husky who found himself trapped in a Lexington sewer drain is now back home with his dad.

It was a first for animal control officers and the adventure of a lifetime for Sebastian the husky.

The dog found himself trapped inside of a sewer drain Sunday morning.

Jai Hamilton with Lexington Fayette Animal Care and Control says they’re not sure how Sebastian ended up in such a tight spot, but it’s possible he chased a small animal into the sewer.

However it happened, the husky wanted out.

Hamilton says she and her coworkers spent about half an hour trying to rescue him and ended up removing the manhole cover to pull him out. She says once he was free, rescuers weren’t sure how he would behave but Sebastian was “a very good boy.”

Excited to get out, Sebastian was later picked up by his owner Monday evening.

A happy ending for Sebastian, who seems ready for his next adventure – hopefully, above ground.
