International Center of Kentucky welcomes new building
BOWLING GREEN Ky. – The International Center of Kentucky recently put the finishing touches on its new multiuse space on the same lot as the original building.
Executive director and CEO Albert Mbamfu says this will greatly increase the number of services they can offer and also the number of people they can offer them to.
“It’s a feeling of satisfaction and liberation. First of all, this is a success not just for the international center as an institution, but a victory for the refugees and immigrants in the community,” Mbamfu said.
One of the biggest changes will be that the entire building is now one level, making access to and from the building much easier for some and the facility features more technology for use in education that simply wasn’t able to fit in the original.
“We have space in the new building for a computer learning lab, which is something that we don’t have right now. And that computer lab would open up to refugees and immigrants who want to come in to learn how to use the computer, do job search and develop resumes,” Mbamfu said.
The new space will be officially open for business some time in January or February.
