Some peaches, plums and nectarines recalled for listeria risk
The HMC Group Marketing, Inc. is issuing a voluntary recall of peaches, plums and nectarines distributed nationwide.
The U.S. Food & Drug Administration said Friday that the fruit was sold in retail stores between May 1 and Nov. 15 of 2022 and between May 1 and Nov. 15 of 2023. The recall is due to potential contamination with listeria, according to the FDA.
The FDA says listeria can lead to serious or fatal infections in young children, elderly or frail people, and it cause miscarriages or stillbirths in pregnant women.
Peaches, plums and nectarines currently available at stores are not included in the recall, the FDA says.
So far, officials say recalled peaches have been linked to 11 illnesses.
If you have frozen the fruit or still have it on hand, discard it.
