Hispanic Heritage celebrated at BG Junior High
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The students of Bowling Green Junior High School were able to join in a celebration of the Hispanic Heritage of themselves and of their classmates with a large event in the gymnasium.
Branda Givens, the assistant coordinator of youth services, did much of the work to set up the event, inviting groups from around the area to take part in traditional dancing and singing performances for students at the middle school.
Lasting a little over an hour, the event saw roughly four acts, one of which involved much of the audience attempting to do a dance that was shown to them by a group of students.
“I think it’s very important to not feel like just because you’re not a certain race or certain culture, you don’t fit in or anything like that. I think it’s important to embrace the differences between us and kind of know how we all work together,” Givens said.
