Superhero Week at APT

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. –  Associates in Pediatric Therapy sees kids with a variety of needs, and with their ability to range from speech to behavioral therapy, they help to push a lot of kids.

The week of Aug. 21 to Aug. 25 was Superhero Week at APT, so clients showed up as their favorite hero for their appointment. News 40 was able to sit in on a speech therapy session with a client named Michael, a super energetic kid who used to be nonverbal.

His therapist, Baylee Kirtley, said in her interview that Michael up until about two years ago used to use a tablet-like device to communicate, but now he forms full sentences and reads fairly well.

Kirtley said her favorite part about her job is getting to connect with the kids and families she works with on a daily basis and said that speech therapy is very important for many children. Kirtley said communicating is something you do every day at all times, so it’s important to hone in on ages 0 to 3 to get ahead of any issues you think your child might have.
