Identities released after fatal collision on I-65

FRANKLIN, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police has released further details surrounding a collision Sunday morning on Interstate 65.

KSP says it received a call around 11 a.m. Sunday for a fatal collision that occurred southbound on I-65 near the 12 mile marker. KSP Post 3 troopers responded to the scene and conducted a preliminary investigation.

According to authorities, Alan T. Pound, 62, of Emory, Texas was traveling southbound on I-65 in a 1985 pickup truck when the vehicle struck the back of a Franklin-Simpson Fire and Rescue 2008 International fire engine.

KSP says the fire engine had been stationary in the left lane with emergency equipment activated due to an unrelated collision just south of its location.

Pound, along with passenger Ronnie R. Mcenturff, 61, of Emory, Texas, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Simpson County coroner.

A firefighter that was inside of the fire engine was treated for minor injuries from the collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
