(CNN) – Imagine some worker somewhere watching you on your own home security camera.

That’s what the Federal Trade Commission says happened at Ring, which is now owned by Amazon.

The FTC alleges Ring gave employees unrestricted access to customers’ home security systems.

The agency claims one Ring employee viewed thousands of such videos from at least 81 female users back in 2017.

That’s before Amazon acquired the company in 2018.

Amazon still agreed to settle the FTC’s lawsuit for $5.8 million Wednesday.

The retailer also agreed to implement a new data security program.
