Operation Pride giving out $400 tree vouchers after past storm destroyed trees

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Operation Pride is stepping up in a big way after Friday’s storm destroyed hundreds of trees.

They will be giving away $400 tree vouchers to anyone in Warren County.

Interested residents will have to fill out an application to qualify. The application will be posted at the end of the week.

Operation Pride has worked tirelessly to repopulate trees in our community since the 2021 tornadoes…we lost about 4,000 trees in that deadly storm.

With the damp ground and high winds, Operation Pride Executive Director Melanie Lawrence estimates that we lost another 400 in the past few days.

“Insurance covers damage to homes but it doesn’t cover trees and landscaping and we were already so devastated by the tornado and now with this additional damage we felt it was the right thing to do for the citizens of Bowling Green and Warren County,” said Lawrence.

Operation Pride is also having a tree giveaway event on April 14th at Kroger on the Bypass. They are also planting 20 trees along the Jennings Creek greenway on April 27th.
