Warren County man charged after report of attempted kidnapping

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Warren County man is facing jail time after a wild turn of events that police say includes an attempted kidnapping.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office says they got a call Thursday around 5:29 p.m. about the attempted kidnapping of a 5-yer-old on Mulberry Avenue.

Once authorities got to the house, police say the father of the 5-year-old said the suspect took off in a white Nissan Altima after a confrontation.

Just minutes later, police say deputies were called to a single car crash involving a white Nissan near Plano Road and Interstate 165, and the driver had left the vehicle. The driver then got into an unidentified black SUV and left the scene, police say.

While sheriff’s deputies and KSP were investigating that incident, authorities say Bowling Green police were called to Hardee’s on Cumberland trace just a few miles away for a reckless driver incident.

Once they arrived, police say they arrested Carson Mooneyhan, 20, of Bowling Green.

During their investigation, authorities say that after crashing his car on Plano Road, Mooneyhan ended up at Waffle House near I-65, stole a truck and drove to Hardee’s, where he was eventually arrested.

Mooneyhan remains in the Warren County Detention Center, where he faces charges of receiving stolen property valued at $10,000 or more, first-degree wanton endangerment, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance, first offense, reckless driving, kidnapping of a minor and leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid or assistance.
