WCPS holds first Lego League Robotics competition
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Warren County Public Schools just held their first Lego League Robotics competition.
On Saturday, dozens of kids on teams from various schools across the state showed up at Briarwood Elementary for their chance to put their mind to the test and compete for first place.
The teams program a Lego robotics kit, do missions with the robot, and present a project to judges.
School staff say that it’s a fun way for kids to learn, and also prepare for their future.
“Computer science is huge. There’s so many jobs out in the community that people need to have some kind of experience with computer science. So students are problem solving, coding, engineering different parts to do different missions on the table. It’s an overall great experience for the kids and to work with each other too,” said WCPS Digital Learning Coach Adam Vincent.
This is a regional qualifying event. The top six teams are invited to State. State is held at North Kentucky University in February.
