USPS to deploy 66,000 electric vehicles by 2028

(CNN) – The U.S. Postal Service is building one of the largest electric fleets in the U.S., announcing Tuesday it’s buying 66,000 electric vehicles.
The postal service is ordering 45,000 of the electric “next generation delivery vehicles” from a defense contractor, while the other 21,000 will be bought from major commercial automakers.
It says three-fourths of its fleet will be electric by 2028. All new vehicle purchases will be electric from 2026 onward.
The postal service said the upgrade is in part due to 3 billion in Inflation Reduction Act funding.
