Red Cross teams with up Nashville Preds: urgent donations needed
Save Lives and win Preds prizes
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – When July’s deadly storms flooded Eastern Kentucky, over 400 trained Red Cross disaster workers immediately provided almost 500 residents shelter. They have since helped the Eastern Kentucky community recover.
Now, the Red Cross desperately needs help.
The Nashville Predators have teamed up, once again, with the American Red Cross in the hopes of more blood donors rolling up their sleeves.
Friday, the American Red Cross set up shop in Bowling Green’s Holiday Inn. Donors rolled up their sleeves and walked away with thank you gifts like Predators foam hockey pucks, two pre-season Preds game tickets, a chance to win free gas for a year and even more.
Blood donor Kellie Moore said, “My younger sister last year passed away post transplant lymphoma. And prior to that she had had to receive several transfusions, platelets, red blood cells as well. So, we know how important it is for these patients and their families to receive these transfusions.”
American Red Cross phlebotomist Amanda MaCarthur said, “Thousands of people in the United States need a blood transfusion every single day. So it’s insanely important for people to come and give as often as possible.”
To schedule an appointment, download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code: PREDS19. Of course, walk-ins are always welcome.
