Local photographer to show support with Pride photoshoot

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One local photographer is giving a gift during Pride Month.

Ashton Freeman has been a freelance photographer for eight years in Scottsville and Bowling Green.

Tomorrow evening, she is welcoming the LGBTQ+ community to downtown Bowling Green with a photoshoot of them and their loved ones. The photoshoot is free and begins at 6 p.m.

Ashton said she wants to make it apparent that, while she has seen some photographers refuse service, “she is a huge ally and is willing to take anyone.”

Freeman also shared how she got started in her work.

“Actually, I borrowed my mom’s camera and never gave it back, like my dad bought her a camera, and I was like this is cool,” said Ashton Freeman, owner of Ashton Dawn Photography. “And I just started shooting everything with it, and I think I started mostly as a hobby and was shooting like friends and families and stuff – then it started off when I started charging a little bit, and I was like okay I could make a business out of this.”
