WKU Greek week blood drive: 3rd largest in the country
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Two words and one simple action make a big difference. Giving blood.
Western Kentucky University students are stepping up in a big way with the Greek Week Blood Drive.
It’s the third largest Red Cross drive in the entire country and the largest in the Kentucky/Tennessee region. Greek life students have held this event for decades.
Between 1,200 and 1,500 pints of blood are collected during the three days. One pint of blood can save up to three lives, so this drive ends up saving thousands of lives.
“A lot of people, it’s their first time donating blood. Some of these college students are freshmen and they’ve never donated blood before. So this is something where we’re creating lifelong givers of blood and lifelong philanthropists,” said Assistant Director of Student Activities Andrew Rash.
You can still register to give blood Tuesday and Wednesday at the Preston Center. You can register here and use the sponsor code ‘WKU’.
