SBA reaches out to businesses impacted by tornado

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center at Greenwood Mall may be empty, but there is still help available for tornado survivors.

Today, the Small Business Administration toured tornado damaged areas of Warren County, trying to reach those working to recover from devastation.

“We are actually trying to go door to door and offer assistance to businesses that were impacted, talk to them, tell them about the Business Recovery Centers that are open in Bowling Green,” said Liliana Tschanett, public affairs specialist for the SBA.

“Nobody say anything about them,” said Business Owner Mahammed Saleh. “They just showed up on my door. They just came and helped. One of them told me where to go, where to apply, how to get help. Every day they help me.”

The SBA offers government loans with low interest rates, not only to small businesses, but also homeowners and renters.

SBA officials said it’s a good idea to apply for the loan, because it gives you a wide set of options as you rebuild, but there is no obligation to take it if approved.

SBA members are available to help you in person at the WKU Business Accelerator Center on Nashville Road in Bowling Green or at the Kummer / Little Recreation Center on College Street.
