85-year-young ‘trail’blazer awarded by Cave Country Trails

Surprised Munfordville native surrounded by friends and family

MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. – Tuesday’s routine Cave Country Trails meeting turned into a surprise party for one Munfordville native.

Family and friends gathered in Munfordville Stovall Park to watch 85-year-old Munfordville native Harry Wilson win the prestigious CCT User of the Year Award.

The CCT committee honored its 2nd annual award winner with an engraved paddle.

Wilson has devoted himself to SOKY’s trails. Wilson built a four-mile hiking trail from Munfordville to Johnson Springs along the Green River.

The patriarch’s family says their ‘Pappy’ is always out on the trails hiking, kayaking, ziplining, and exercising.

“I love something like this where I’ve got my friends here,” said Wilson. “I thank Tourism. They’ve been supportive, and I hope I can keep going, keep going until I’m 90.”

Wilson says he hopes to see the walking trails turn into biking trails one day.
