2nd annual Hardwood Heroes Classic at Cumberland Trace Elementary
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Down Syndrome of South Central Kentucky or “Buddy House” kicked off their week of programming with a basketball tournament the morning of March 18.
World Down Syndrome Day is Tuesday, March 21 and the DSSKY are once again making sure they play it up as much as they can to get the community involved. Executive Director of DSSKY, Stephanie Morton said it’s important to let the community know that our individuals with down syndrome are also capable of typical activities.
News 40 was able to grab Morton for an interview before the game kicked off, and she said “it’s great for their self esteem but more than that we want the community to know that yes they can do this…”
Morton mentioned that it might take a little more time here and there, but “they can really shoot that basketball” and the game means a lot to all those involved.
On March 20, the Buddy House will celebrate being open 10 years straight and will release some more announcements about their plans for 2023.
