2 dead after head-on crash in Meade County

BRANDENBURG, Ky. – A driver and a passenger have died following a crash in Meade County on Sunday.

According to the Kentucky State Police, at 12:54 a.m., troopers were requested to investigate a fatal two-vehicle collision on Old Mill Road (KY 1638) near LG&E Road.

Authorities say a preliminary investigation indicates a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Isaac Jenkins of Brandenburg was traveling eastbound on Old Mill Road when, for unknown reasons, it crossed the center line and entered the westbound lane.

During this time, troopers say the vehicle hit a Ford Fusion head on.

According to authorities, the driver of the Ford Fusion, 26-year-old Trenton Thomas of Brandenburg and the passenger, 29-year-old Karlie Haycraft of Brandenburg, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Meade County Coroner at 1:13 a.m.

Jenkins was flown to University of Louisville Hospital for life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

KSP was assisted at the scene by Meade County Sheriff’s Office, Meade County EMS, Muldraugh Fire Department, Flaherty Fire Department, Muldraugh Police Department, KY 7 Air Methods and the Meade County Coroner’s Office.
