100 Deadliest Days: less experienced drivers on the road
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – From Memorial Day to Labor Day, AAA calls it the “100 Deadliest Days” and wants to caution the public.
With school being out for the summer, more less experienced drivers will be out and about. AAA wants to make sure parents and guardians are telling younger motorists about the dangers of the road including speeding and driving at night.
According to AAA, 36 percent of teen driver fatalities happen between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. and 30 percent of deaths with a teen driver involved were due to excess speed.
Parents are encouraged to push use of the driver focus features on phones for teens to limit distractions as well as set proper examples and educate teens on safe driving practices and what could happen if they’re not careful in the car.
