1 dead, 1 wounded in Hardin County shooting

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. – The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident involving a fatality in Elizabethtown.

According to HCSO, deputies received a report of a domestic disturbance in the 75 block of Battle Drive Monday evening.

Deputies say that when they arrived, they heard a single gunshot coming from inside the home. An adult woman, who sustained an apparent gunshot wound to the chest, exited the home.

HSCO says the Special Response Team was activated due to the possibility of an armed suspect inside the home. The team made entry into the home and located a dead male. Authorities say the man sustained an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman was transported to a local hospital and later released.

The investigation is ongoing.
