1 dead, 1 injured after crash in Monroe County

TOMPKINSVILLE, Ky. – An 18-year-old woman is dead after a single-vehicle collision in Monroe County.

According to Kentucky State Police, troopers responded to the collision on KY 53 (Old Glasgow Road) just before midnight Monday.

KSP’s preliminary investigation indicates that 18-year-old Garret Tingle, of Tompkinsville, was driving north on KY 63. KSP says Tingle’s vehicle exited the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned.

18-year-old Lesly Chalchi-Gomez, of Tompkinsville, was a passenger in Tingle’s vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Monroe County Coroner’s Office.

Tingle was transported for non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
