Woman struck, killed while trying to save pet following crash

MOUNT VERNON, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police is investigating a fatal crash in Rockcastle County.
According to a release, KSP Troopers responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on I-75 northbound near the 62-mile marker on June 8.
KSP’s preliminary investigation indicates that 33-year-old Morabia Siddhi Suresh of Fremont, California, was involved in a separate collision and exited her vehicle. Her pet escaped the vehicle and ran away.
Investigators say Suresh entered the travel portion of the roadway to retrieve her pet and she was struck by another vehicle.
Emergency personnel transported Siddhi to Rockcastle Regional Hospital for treatment. She later died.
KSP says drugs and alcohol are not suspected in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
