Woman dies after motorcycle wreck in Bath County

OWINGSVILLE, Ky. – A 60-year-old woman is dead following a motorcycle wreck in Bath County.

According to the Kentucky State Police, on Sunday, dispatch contacted KSP around 11 a.m. requesting assistance regarding a fatal collision on Interstate 64 near mile marker 119.

Authorities say a preliminary investigation indicates 60-year-old Barbara Smith of Mount Sterling, Kentucky was operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound when she exited the roadway and struck an embankment.

Smith sustained fatal injuries due to the collision and was pronounced dead on scene by the Bath County coroner.

Bath County Fire and EMS, Bath County Sheriff’s Department and Bath County Coroner assisted KSP on scene. This collision remains under investigation.
