Warren Central pulls away late advancing to the State Tournament Semifinals

LEXINGTON, KY. – The top ranked Dragons were set for a matchup with Ashland Blazer in the quarterfinals of the State Tournament.

The Tomcats fought hard and traded blows with Central, but the Dragons experience helped them pull away with a win, 64-48.

Chappelle Whitney led the way for Warren Central with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Omari Glover followed with 14 points and Kade Unseld tallied 13 points as well.

“They’ve been here before. They know what it takes. That is just having a veteran group that has won a lot of basketball games,” Coach Unseld stated when discussing the battle Friday afternoon.

This team is looking to complete the mission this season, after falling just short last year. Senior leader Izayiah Villafuerte said, “we just wanna get back to where we were and even have a better outcome than we did last season.”

Warren Central will be back in action Saturday morning at 11 AM Eastern Time, against Woodford County High School. The winner of that game advances to the State Championship later that night at 7 PM.
