Warren Central beats Pulaski County in the State Tournament, 80-55
LEXINGTON, KY. – The Warren Central Dragons have officially returned to Lexington after a runner-up finish in the State Tournament last year.
Fast forward to this season, the Dragons are the number one team in the state and current favorite to win a ring.
The team wasted no time in the first round Wednesday night, dominating the Pulaski County Maroons, winner of the 12th region, 80-55.
The team jumped out to a quick 20-3 lead at the end of the first quarter and didn’t look back.
Junior star, Kade Unseld, led the way for the Dragons with 26 points and eight rebounds, followed by Chappelle Whitney tallying 16 points and 11 boards.
“It’s going to be hard to duplicate what we did last year for four games, but at the same time, we are talented enough and if we are engaged and play the right way, we got a chance and that is all we can ask for,” Warren Central head coach Will Unseld stated after the win.
The team will be back in action, in round two, on Friday afternoon at 1:30 PM Eastern Time/ 12:30 PM Central Time.
