US Marshals arrest Richmond man wanted on child abuse charges

LEXINGTON, Ky. – A wanted man accused of breaking a child’s rib is now behind bars in Kentucky.
According to the U.S. Marshals Service Central kentucky Task Force, on Tuesday, it arrested a man wanted on charges of second-degree assault, domestic violence (child) and first-degree criminal abuse/neglect – child under 13 years of age.
The task force states an arrest warrant was issued Tuesday, Nov. 3 for 37-year-old Daniel Keate out of Madison County by Richmond Police Department following a forensic interview with Keate’s two children.
Authorities say Keate is accused of “squeezing his 5-year-old daughter’s rib cage on Aug. 13 to the point it caused severe pain and was later confirmed by UK Children’s Hospital to have resulted in a broken rib.”
According to the task force, an investigation developed information that Keate had traveled from London, Kentucky and was potentially at an apartment in the 100 block of Logan Court in Berea.
While conducting surveillance operations, investigators say they developed information confirming Keate was at the address.
Authorities say they executed an arrest plan on scene and took Keate into custody without incident.
Keate remains at the Madison County Detention Center.
