United Way recognizes heroes with Live United Awards
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-United Way of Southern Kentucky is celebrating heroes in our community tonight with the Live United Awards.
The awards recognize organizations and individuals who lended a hand during the pandemic, helped tornado recovery, and furthered the mission of United Way over the past year.
The Shooting Star award…one of the biggest awards… was given to Jennie Gamble, for rushing to aid the Jennings Creek neighborhood after the tornadoes, even when her own property was damaged.
The most anticipated award, the Live United award, was presented to Fruit of the Loom for the company that had the greatest impact of the past year.
“Tonight is the night that we honor all of the different people who make our work possible. The employees, the companies who support our campaigns through their donations from their paychecks that allow us to reach out to the community through the 10-county area to do the good work of United Way,” said United Way board chair Steve Pankey.
Over 200 Southern Kentucky residents attended.
