Toddler of the year raises millions for Toys for Tots

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Toys for Tots collaborates with a company called Colossal Management to produce the program “Toddler of the Year.”

They had over 200,000 competitors for toddler of the year, and $13. 5 million was raised in total, which will make a massive difference for millions of children.

Gunnar Spafford, the vice president of business development for Toys for Tots, says, “It’s one of the best feelings in the world, to tell you the truth. I really enjoy what I do. I mean, I go out and think of new and interesting ways to fundraise for us to help children in need.”

When Toys for Tots receives funds from programs like Toddler of the Year, the organization can make a child feel seen and provide relief to families.

Gunnar shares, “We were able to distribute 24 million toys to nearly 11 million children, which is just simply amazing because a lot of those kids would have never received a, a, a gift, you know, over the holidays. But we are not only doing what we do during the holidays, but we are also doing outreach all year round.”

Gunnar shares that fulfilling the mission to serve year-round is the top priority.

He also says, “We feel that, you know, the amount of money that we’re able to get from that and the chance that it creates for family members to be able to be the Toddler of the Year, kind of does a great thing that’s just kind of unique.”
