Take care of pets and other animals during inclement weather

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – With winter weather coming, pet owners need to be vigilant to protect their animals.

Dogs left outside on chains could suffer from the dangerous temperatures and could even die.

Cats will be looking for a place to warm up.

Experts advise setting out dry straw in containers rather than blankets because wet or frozen blankets won’t provide ample heat.

Other animals will likely be looking for shelter too, so if you have the means to set out a dog house for your local opossum, racoon or stray cat to find shelter in, the furry friends would thank you!

And, of course, if you see any animal left outside and in danger, call your local authorities immediately, it could save a life.
