Suspect indicted on charges connected to Berea bank shooting

FRANKFORT, Ky. – The suspect in a deadly Berea bank shooting is now indicted on related charges.
According to a release by Attorney General Russell Coleman’s office on Wednesday, 19-year-old Brailen Weaver was indicted this afternoon on two counts of murder and one count of fleeing and evading.
Authorities say the shooting took place on April 30. According to an indictment, Weaver shot and killed two bank employees.
One victim, Breanna Edwards, was a teller at U.S. Bank and had been married for almost a year, according to the attorney general’s office. She was 35.
Forty-two-year-old Brian Switzer, the second victim, was a manager at U.S. Bank, officials say. Switzer was both a husband and father, according to the attorney general’s office.
Coleman states he intends to seek the death penalty due to the nature of the crime and the loss of life.
According to the release, Coleman’s indictment is separate from an ongoing federal case.
