Support Small Business Saturday this weekend
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Still looking for the deals you didn’t find on Black Friday? Small Business Saturday is the way to go.
The sales start up this Saturday. For many of the businesses in Bowling Green, Christmas shopping this weekend will help them recover from the pandemic.
Embellish Owner Lisa Marshall said, “It helps keeps the money in our community, it helps with creating jobs and it’s just really does a lot for the economy here.”
Back Down South Owner Kristen Robinette said, “It’s such a great day for everybody to get out and support the community. If it’s not for the small business in this town, then there’s no way we’re all going to survive.”
Local businesses worked hard to stay afloat last year. Some starting curbside delivery and local delivery for the first time.
“Everyone worked their butt off,” said Robinette. “I feel like we did all that we could to like, help ourselves survive and give back to our community. So, now it’s like it’s a really great way for them to come out and support us and to show businesses and show the community that they care as much about us as we do about them.”
Robinette said shoppers should try to share the love and hit as many stores as possible.
Marshall said, “We just have loved every minute of [time with our shoppers]. This community has just been great to us, you know.”
The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Small Business Saturday. People can fill up special bingo boards by shopping at certain businesses to win a secret prize.
