PRELIMINARY DATA FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (December 14, 2021) – The National Weather Service continues to gather preliminary data on the December 11,2021 severe weather outbreak.
At this time the actual number of tornadoes is unknown. This will take several days to get an accurate number.
Surveyors believe that more than one tornado touched down in Bowling Green. One tornado was estimated to be an EF-3 with 155 mph windspeeds. The path of the tornado can be traced by the extensive damage from the Creekwood subdivision and damage at the Hucks gas station to the Corvette plant.
Another tornado is estimated to be an EF-2 with 115 mph peak winds while the third tornado was an EF-0 which touched down in the community of Hadly.
The surveys are still ongoing and the data will likely change throughout the next several days.
