State troopers participating in multi-state initiative to reduce crime

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police Post Three says it is participating in a multi-state initiative aimed at reducing crime and keeping illegal guns out of communities.

KSP Post Three serves Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Simpson and Warren counties.

Troopers say from Sept. 17-20, state troopers from Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia are joining forces for the 6-State Trooper Project.

Each of the enforcement periods targets a specific traffic or criminal safety concern, authorities say.

In September, the effort concentrates on criminal patrol operations, specifically identifying illegal firearms carried by those convicted of felonies.

Troopers say they will use traffic enforcement to detect and disrupt illegal activity while ensuring compliance with state and federal laws prohibiting certain individuals from carrying firearms.

Capt. Tim Adams, commander of KSP Post Three, says the 6-State Trooper Project highlights the agency’s ongoing commitment to local, state and national safety.

“By joining forces across state lines, we are able to work together to ensure our communities are safe,” Adams said. “It is all about protecting families and communities throughout the commonwealth and beyond.”
