Somerset man dies in fatal Rockcastle County crash

MOUNT VERNON, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police is investigating a fatal crash in Rockcastle County.
According to KSP Post 11, troopers responded to a collision on Kentucky 461 near the intersection of White Rock Road at approximately 12 pm Saturday.
When troopers arrived, they were notified that one of the drivers was dead.
KSP’s preliminary investigation indicates that a car driven by 70-year-old Hollis Smith, of Somerset, was traveling north on KY 461 when it crossed the center line and crashed into a freightliner driven by 32-year-old Jeffson Joseph, of Apopka, Florida.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors in the crash.
KSP says an autopsy is pending.
The investigation is ongoing.
