Six from Southern Kentucky representing at Special Olympics USA Games

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Right now, six people from Southern Kentucky are representing our region at the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games in Orlando.

The Special Olympics is the world’s largest sports training and competition program for children and adults with intellectual abilities.

Casey Freeman of Franklin and Brianna Goode of Glasgow are both competing in bowling. Lee Dockins of Russellville is competing in artistic gymnastics. Bryan Cheely is competing in golf with his brother.

Jeff Corder and Holly Vincent of Bowling Green are coaches.

The athletes qualified for the USA Games by winning in a prior competition…they are sure to come home to Kentucky with some medals!

“A lot of its excitement, there’s a lot of excitement around this event, a lot of its emotion you’ll see a lot of athletes who achieved sort of a lifelong dream here break down when they get their medals or they realize that they’ve won a medal,” said Special Olympics Kentucky communications director Mark Buerger.

The athletes return home from the USA Games this Sunday.
