SHELBY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – A Shelby County jury found Shannon Gilday guilty but mentally ill on all six charges on Thursday in the murder of Jordan Morgan.

That’s according to a report by LEX 18.

LEX 18 reports the verdict was read earlier this afternoon.

Prosecutors say Gilday broke into the Morgan family mansion during February 2022 and shot Jordan Morgan in her bed.

Morgan is the 32-year-old daughter of former Kentucky lawmaker C. Wesley Morgan.

According to LEX 18, the prosecution’s case centered around Gilday’s mental illness, stating he was “gripped by delusions of an impending nuclear war and was trying to reach the Morgan family’s ‘doomsday bunker.'”

According to court records, Gilday is charged with murder, three counts of attempted murder, first-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief.

The penalty phase is scheduled for Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
