Seniors celebrate Woodstock’s golden anniversary

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A local Senior Center is holding a two-day celebration of Woodstock’s 50th Anniversary.

Community Action of Southern Kentucky brought together folks with food, music and trivia to remember and celebrate Woodstock and the musical artists who participated in the world-famous festival.

Woodstock originally began in 1969 and was supposed to be held in Woodstock, N.Y.

But, at the last minute, the location was moved to Bethel, N.Y. and the performing artists had to be taken to the new site by helicopter.

The Senior Center attendees were excited to share with WNKY about what they remembered about the festival and the musicians who played.

“This is the group that also just watched the man land on the moon in the same month. and the fact that there have been documentaries on TV recently bringing back memories and the qualities of the event. The music comes back,” Bridget Lutenski, Warren County Senior Center Manager said.

Many still famous musicians preformed at Woodstock including Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and The Who, to name a few.
