GLASGOW, Ky. (Glasgow News 1) – A second McDonald’s location is planned for the south side of Glasgow, according to local developer Larry Glass.

According to a report by Glasgow News 1, Glass stated in a Facebook post that he has signed an agreement for the new McDonald’s at the corner of Trojan Trail and U.S. 31-E south.

“It is my understanding that this location will be one of only 12 new state-of-the-art prototype stores planned across the country,” Glass further stated.

Glasgow News 1 says the announcement was made after McDonald’s recently unveiled “McDonald’s > NEXT,” a strategy calling for a “new generation of restaurants featuring updates building designs, enhanced technology, improved hospitality and menu innovations.”

The future prototype restaurants are reportedly aiming to make a “faster, more consistent customer experience while incorporating new AI digital tools and operational improvements,” Glasgow News 1 reports.

According to Glasgow News 1, Glass stated he believes the project will add a “major addition to the south side of Glasgow and an example of the confidence national companies have in Glasgow’s future.”

Glass stated the aim is to start site work in late July, pending a normal construction process.

He also stated there is a plan to have the property ready for turnover to McDonald’s by the end of October, as long as work remains on schedule, according to Glasgow News 1.

While the new location would be Glasgow’s second McDonald’s, it would be Barren County’s third location overall, Glasgow News 1 reports.

Additional details have not been released at this time. Further updates will be provided as they are made available.
