Russell County Search & Rescue released the following statement regarding water safety
When you call for help, please stay put. Remaining in one location is critical for a fast and safe response. Moving after calling 911 or SAR can delay rescue efforts, increase risk, and make it significantly harder for teams to locate you—especially at night or in low‑visibility conditions. Staying where you are allows responders to reach you quickly and get you home safely.
