Potential locations for proposed Warren County ice hockey and tennis facility discussed Thursday night

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Hockey and tennis fans joined each other Thursday night in Bowling Green to learn more about a potential ice hockey and tennis facility in Warren County.

A public forum was held at Basil Griffin Park. More than 100 people showed up to view blueprints of potential locations for the proposed venue.

Among the locations: Ephram White Park, downtown Bowling Green, Russellville Road, Greenwood Mall and Greenwood High School.

The company conducting a feasibility study on the project, Lose and Associates,  presented the renderings. Residents were asked to vote on which location they prefer best by placing a sticker on the board displaying the rendering.

Nathan Fielder, a hockey fan from Bowling Green, who is part of the Warren County Inline Hockey program, is hopeful the venue will be just a stone’s throw away.

“I have to travel all the way to Nashville to be able to play, or Owensboro,” Fielder said. “Those are the two closest ice rinks right now. Being able to drive down the street would be phenomenal.”

The findings of the feasibility study, which will include a narrowed down location list and information on financing, will be announced at a Warren County Fiscal Court Meeting on Friday, May 10. Magistrates will decide what happens after that.
